More than a gear shop
Basecamp is more than an outdoor shop in Laramie, WY. We are a team of outdoor gear junkies with decades of scaling the tallest mountains, carving through the deepest powder, and exploring the vast wilderness.

Deep Roots in Laramie
Laramie's Basecamp has a rich history spanning decades of serving the outdoor enthusiasts of the Laramie area. What Ken Cramer started in 1981 and grew as Cross Country Connection, transitioned when ownership changed and the store took on a new form. When the Shea Family took over Basecamp in 2022, they decided to take the outdoor shop back to its communal roots and expand services to reach all types of adventure seekers.

Serving People & the Planet
At Laramie's Basecamp, we are on a mission to provide the best service with our team of outdoor experts and technicians. In the community, we've had the opportunity to supply the Laramie High School Alpine Ski Team with new race skis and have been fortunate enough to provide sponsorships to events and organizations within our Laramie community as well.
Testimonials
I love Basecamp!
"I just love Basecamp. They have all the best gear and an incredibly friendly, helpful team. The shop is large and open, so it's easy to shop and there's a 10/10 guarantee that someone will ask how they can help you. Thank you for being part of Laramie, Basecamp!"
Great People & Great Shop!
"I live in Arizona and work in a ski shop, but my brother lives in Laramie and got a new ski setup this year meaning I wasn't able to help him get setup and fitted properly. My brother has a disability, and it is often hard to find gear that works with his disability. Base Camp did an incredible job helping him out and getting him set up with the right gear, and even paid to get his boots that he bought there fitted by another shop! I was blown away by how helpful and kind the staff at Base Camp is. It's rare to see staff that cares as much as the people here do. Great people and a great shop!"
Meet The Team at Laramie's Basecamp

Patrick Coffey, General Manager
As an avid Nordic skier, I am very excited to be a part of Basecamp and Fast Haus Ski & Bike as well as part of this thriving local community of skiers in Laramie! I did not grow up in a skiing family, I stumbled upon the sport of cross-country skiing as a freshman in high school. This discovery would shape the trajectory of my life. I quickly became interested in biathlon, a sport in which I competed until I was 21. At that point I had surgery that made it clear that my progress as an athlete was at its height. With this in mind, I moved on to instructing and coaching. This path lead me all the way to the US Biathlon National team coaching staff where I was lucky enough to travel the world as part of the World Cup and IBU Cup.
My downhill skiing experience started at the age of 22 at Bridger Bowl outside of Bozeman, MT. One of my first ever runs was Hidden Gully – amazing what a 22 year old will do! Since then, I have enjoyed my time skiing in Montana, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York and Utah. I also became an avid backcountry skier during my time in Utah. I’m excited to explore all that Wyoming has to offer!
In the summer you will find me backpacking, mountain biking and trail running, usually with my dog Stella tagging along. Just to add more options I see a paddleboard in my future!

Luis Caturelli
I spent seven incredible years guiding adventures in Argentina, Patagonia, and Chile, cycled beautiful routes in Uruguay and Europe, volunteered in scientific research, and developed a passion for photography and travel while connecting with nature and new people. More than loving the mountains, I love helping others to experience adventure and bring them closer to nature.

Cait Falco
Cait moved to Laramie for graduate school in 2018 and has stayed because of her love for the outdoors. Over the years, she realized her passion for the outdoors and helping others get outside, no matter their experience level. Outside of the shop, her and her dog, Hank, can be found bouldering or trail running in the summer and skiing or simply exploring the mountains in the winter.
